Bio Ion was born like any other replica: out of someone's insane desire to further the plot. Once it was discovered that out of he and his replicated brothers it was the seventh that had powers closest to the original the others were scraped and he was kept. They dressed him up in a trap suit and taught him to read the score: the pre-written "destiny" of the world that relates the minutest details of every living individual's choices and outcomes. Much like his original who tried to defy the score in his own little way, Ion doesn't believe the score is absolute.
While attempting to stop an "inevitable" war between Kimlausca and Malkuth Ion gets side tracked with a magical cheagle adventure and meets a small group of weirdos. But because Ion is so darn amiable he quickly befriends all of them, even the snotty abusive one and over time becomes a valuable non-combatant/summon to the the group.
